Today I am going to do a bit of a different post, since I was greeted with a nice little surprise this morning in my inbox, Karen over at Unpack The Box dropped by the blog last night and nominated me for a Liebster Award

I have been following along with Karen for awhile now, not only do I enjoy seeing boxes from another's perspective and enjoy the "behind the scenes" she does with many companies (I have done a few interviews with sub companies so I KNOW how much effort she has to put into do so many of them and I greatly appreciate it since I like to know the story behind the boxes that I am considering subscribing to myself) ya'll should definitely go check her blog out if you haven't already.

Here are the questions she asked me:

1. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging to spread awareness of AOSD, in the beginning The Dragon Slayer Mommy was strictly about my life with AOSD and how it affected my being a mom and a wife. I wanted to show that chronically ill moms CAN do it all, just differently than most other moms....the boxes were a side note really, and then after I reviewed a few boxes I was already receiving it all grew from there.

2. What's the most awesome thing you've ever received in the mail?

That is son's new birth certificate...if you are not familiar with adoption once the adoption is final the child is issued a new birth certificate that lists the adoptive parents as his/her parents of record... seeing my name as Tuffy's mommy and seeing his last name as Parkhouse, only someone who has been on the adoption journey can know how many tears it took to get to the moment you see your name on that birth certificate.....nothing I ever receive to review will ever be more valuable than that...ever...

3. You have to move to a country where you don't speak the native language. Where do you go and why?

Greece, I am really into history, not just modern history (as in the last two hundred years) but I am really into ancient history and civilizations...Greece is pretty much as ancient as you can get and is so rich in traditions and folklore in addition to proven historical facts that I would lo9ve to spend month, even years studying it all...Greece is also beautiful and has a rich culinary history...pretty much the trifecta for me on choosing a foreign place to go.

4. What was the last book you fell in love with?

Plain Fame (the first book in the plain fame trilogy by Sarah Price), NOt many people know it but most of my recreational reading time is spend reading Amish fiction. I am drawn to the Amish culture to begin with, and prefer to read faith based fiction as well. Sarah Price has long been a favorite author, but her Plain Fame trilogy is very different for an Amish love story since the lead male character is an international sex symbol who falls for an Amish girl...really so  not possible at all...BUT it makes for an interesting read and because Sarah Price spins such a beautiful story with loveable characters you find yourself unable to put the book down.... I have all 3 in the trilogy, however this one is hands down my favorite.

5. What is your favorite quote?

"fake it 'till you make it" this is something a spoonie or dragon slayer pretty much NEVER feel well, but you can look like you are feeling better than you are... I have been pushing myself to attempt to look like I am actually "normal" I make an effort to do something with my hair and perhaps a small amount of face products (I am not a big makeup fan under any circumstances, but a bit of color helps) and just getting dressed into "real" clothes helps a lot...I have discovered that just forcing myself to do these things makes me feel a bit better...over time anyway...mind over matter...

6. What makes you laugh out loud?

shows like Sabrina the teenaged witch, I love Lucy, and Reba... I am not a fan of most current TV shows, I like less drama and adult situations and more things I am OK with my son sitting next to me while I am watching it....
or  video or photos of kittens, puppies, pr tiger cubs playing.

7. If you could be any Bond Girl, which one would you play?

I really don't know... I am not a fan of the 007 movies I think I have only seen a couple ever... I am a Sean Connery fan, but I couldn't tell you the name of any bond girl I don't think.

8. What is one thing you carry with you and can't live without?

hmm...JUST one...lip balm, I am a lip balm addict...I have several in each bag that stays there at all times (even when I clean ourses out I leave the lip balm just incase I forget to put some in next time I carry that bag) I also have lip balm in every room of my house.

9. If you could choose to live in any fictional setting, television show or movie - which one would you choose and why?

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original with Gene Wilder), I have loved that movie since I was a little girl and the scene where they walk into the chocolate waterfall room..and everything in there is edible ...just thinking of it makes me happy and brings out the little girl in me...I mean who doesn't want a chocolate river or edible scenery?!?

10. What are three random facts about yourself?

a) I have a VERY rare disease that affects only 0.00006% of the world population

b) despite having every kitchen gadget known to womankind I prefer to do all my mixing by hand like my granny did ... I swear there is a difference in the way my baked goods turn out...and I DO love my Kitchen Aid Artisan mixer....but not for certain recipes, some just have to be done the old fashioned way (weird, I know)

c) I think I was born in the wrong era, I would have been better suited in the 40's or 50's I think (I feel like I have a different mindset than most, more old fashioned and perhaps for me "back then" was a better fit values wise) That being said I would like to go back in time with my current medications...without my modern day meds I would likely not live very long as a dragon slayer..and if I have to choose between the two I would hands down choose the medication.

The Liebster Award is a way to recognize worthy and inspirational blogs with under 200 followers(going to be honest, a few of these have more than 200 followers, I chose my favorite blogs that are outside of "mainstream" blogs)

You can choose to view it as an annoying chain mail message, or a lovely recognition and pay it forward.  My nominees are a mix of blogs that I have made part of my "must read" blogs, some I have read for a long time, others I have only recently discovered, but all of them have touched drawn me in with their writing in some way., each end every one of them is worth checking out, reading and following along... you never know one of these could become one of your favorites as well.

The blogs that I nominate are:

If you decide to accept, here are the rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.

2. You must answer the 10 questions given to you by the nominee before you.

3. You must nominate 10 of your favorite blogs with a small community of followers and notify them
of their nomination. -  In some places it says nominate 3-5 blogs, in other places it says to nominate 5-10.  And still others say 11. It's a pay-it-forward type of thing and the Liebster Police will not come knocking on your blog. ***I didn't do 10 blogs, because these are the smaller blogs that I visit often right now in my life or were a big part of my life in the last few years**

4. You must come up with 10 questions for your nominees to answer.

the 10 questions for my nominees are:

1) how did you come of with the name of your blog and what does it mean to you?

2) Why did you start blogging?
