May Birchbox

Yesterday I received My March Birchbox in the mail and let me tell you I was happy to see it had arrived so I could see the contents of my little surprise box for this month (although you know I had seen spoilers, but you never KNOW until it's "here" ya know?). I am sure most of you are familiar with Birchbox , but for those like me who arrived late to the subscription box craze it is a monthly subscription box that contains deluxe sized Skin care, makeup, perfume, grooming and lifestyle samples (usually 4-5 deluxe sized samples and occasionally a full sized product or two) This is the best way I have found to try so many different skin care, hair care and makeup samples (the samples are usually large enough to last me at least a month so I really get a chance to "try" the product and but it if I like it) Birchbox also has it's own store where you can purchase many of the items shipped to you at discounted prices as well which is nice for me since I am unable to go out and shop and as hard as the Yankee tries he just has a hard time picking up my beauty items (even when I am very specific) on the items I with all boxes some month are better than others...

This is the product information card that gives the breakdown of all items (other than the bonus this month) The theme this month was "Beauty Diaries" and although I don't really see how the theme fits the items in the box other than the "bonus find item" I am happy with my box
Cargo- water resistant blush " this waterproof pigment stays put and gives skin a gorgeous flush" mine is in the Los Cobos shade- the full size is $26 so I estimate this sample value at $6.50.. you know at first I was positive I would not use this item as I don't wear makeup much, but perhaps I will try it out... the more I read about it the more I think I want to try it

Kerastase- bain chroma captive: the first step in Kerastase's targeted 3 step system, this gentle shampoo is designed to boost color treated and dry strands:with UV filters to keep highlights from fading. full size $39 so I value this sample at $4.59 (do people really pay $40 just for a regular sized shampoo?) I am all for hair products in my Birchbox, in fact I LOVE to see stuff for my hair in my BB as I don't wear makeup much but I do have hair concerns...that being said even the product info card says it's a "3 step program" wouldn't you think since they worded it like that they would include the other 2 steps as samples as well (and here is a scary thought if the shampoo is $39 for 8.5 ounces what on earth with all 3 products cost?) now that I have complained a little, I will try this and I am sure I will fall in love with it because it's just my luck that I would fall in love with a super expensive shampoo...

Coola-clasic face SPF 30 cucumber moisturizer for face: this mineral sunblock is infused with organic anti-aging ingredients like evening primrose extract and borage seed oil. Full size is $32 (for just 1.7oz), so I value this sample at $4.27

Joile-Folle de Joile eau de parfum: for it's debut scent, the chic fashion brand created this carefree mix of mandarin, rose, and sandalwood full size is $98 so I value this sample at $1.73... I LOVE this scent and I am really happy that the sample is in a "spray" container...doing those little lids off and on are just too dang hard on my hands...

Birchbox finds bonus (does not count "towards" your sample count in your boxes (basically they are "extra" freebies...and a nice surprise  this month was a Acroball purewhite hybrid ink pen by pilot $value $2.10 . Basically a smudge proof gel pen in vibrant ink colors... mine is aqua... I LOVE it... I know a lot of people are complaining about the them I say...really, quit complaining it's a $10 box... you get your money's worth and a whole lot more every month... I am always jotting stuff down, and I love colored ink pens so it is perfect for fact , it might be my favorite item in the box (defiantly the one I will use most) I am older (40) so I am an old school "writer it down" kind of person... I am putting this with the spiral I keep on my nightstand to jot down things I research...

I didn't get a "group picture" of this box I guess, but all totaled the value of this box was $19.19 and the box costs only $10 every month so I certainly got my money's worth just as always... I just love Birchbox and don't see myself every "getting rid of it"

If you would like to subscribe to Birchbox yourself, here is the link---->Birchbox... I personally think Birchbox is one of the best value's in monthly sub boxes and is a MUST for anyone just "starting out" in sub boxes or is on a limited budget and is looking for the best "bang for their buck" plus since you get "points" when you review your box items (basically worth about $5.00 each month in points) you can quickly accumulate "points" to get free full size items at no cost other than your month $10.00 box fee.... so it's clearly a GREAT bargain.... I think everyone should at least try it for a t least a few months ...
